reincarnation cases india

India is renowned for documented reincarnation cases, most famously that of Shanti Devi in the 1930s, who claimed detailed memories of her past life and was the subject of investigation by a commission appointed by Mahatma Gandhi. Other cases, such as that of Titu Singh and more recent reports of children recalling previous lives, have also gained attention due to the subjects' verifiable recall of specific details about their purported past lives, families, and locations. Researchers like Dr. Ian Stevenson have systematically studied these cases, finding notable consistency in the main features of these accounts over many years.
Notable Cases:
  • Shanti Devi:
Born in 1926, Devi claimed to remember her past life as Lugdi Devi, a woman who died in childbirth. Her astonishing recall of people and places from Lugdi's life, including identifying Lugdi's husband's cousin, led to a commission that supported her claims.
  • Titu Singh (or Toran Singh):
This is another famous case documented in the 1990 BBC documentary. Titu Singh claimed to have been Toran Singh in a past life, and the BBC's Reincarnation International magazine featured this case.
  • In 2021, this boy from Uttar Pradesh claimed to be the reincarnation of Rohit, a deceased local boy. Chandraveer identified Rohit's parents and family members, and accurately answered questions about Rohit's life, including those from his former schoolteachers
